_The approach of White Horse Coaching (WHC) is that every person is
resourceful, resilient, creative and whole. Each of us has the inner
knowing needed to guide and inform our lives. Equine Facilitated
Learning and Coaching offers a path of personal learning and growth that
is not available in the traditional human coach and client process. Key elements of coaching include moving fromintegrating old trauma to living with power and presence; from why me? why this? to what's next? what now?; from resolving the past to visioning for the future; from looking backward to focusing forward; from figuring out why to figuring out how and what. Early messages about who we are, what we are capable of, and what is acceptable can create self-awareness that
is false and a critical voice that dominates and inhibits our lives and
relationships. Interaction with a horse in a safe
environment provides insights into beliefs and behaviors
that keep us from appreciating our strengths and abilities and realizing our true potential. Horses’ high sensitivity
to human emotion and body language allows them to behave and respond in
ways that provide feedback that is unique and not found anywhere else. Authentic communication increases as the client's understanding of the horse's nature is deepened. The horse reflects for the client what is true for her/him in the moment. It can be easier to accept truth from a horse than from another person. Because these experiences are reflective in nature the client and horse interact without
an agenda. This provides freedom for the relationship between human and
horse to develop naturally. Individual sessions include - Mind Body Coaching, understanding the true nature of horses and horse wisdom, 4 Steps to The Present, grooming and leading with intention and awareness, authentic interaction with horses, observing herd behavior, understanding the message of emotions, perceiving the false and authentic self, and working with boundary awareness. Coaching sessions are on the ground and no horse experience is necessary. Three sessions are highly recommended.
I also offer Reiki, an energetic healing practice, with a horse in attendance. Horses provide a grounded and powerful presence that enhances this healing experience. Reiki is a great addition to all equine learning work.
EFLC
__Equine - horse Facilitation – to aid, to assist the progress of (a person),
to make easier or less difficult Learning –to acquire
and develop understanding, knowledge, skills, values, wisdom Coaching – a form of communication that provides
exploration, insight, clarity and direction of a person or group to enhance and
succeed in advancement and achievement.
There are many benefits to EFLC. Every client has a unique experience. Some of the things that can be gained include: Expanded self awareness and interaction with life Living in the present moment Understanding emotion as information Heart -based leadership Increased self acceptance, confidence and personal power Increasingly authentic relationships Living more creatively Discovering potential and passion Trusting what you know Compassion for self and others A deeper sense of connection to the natural world Moving out of false self beliefs and limitations
A session can be filled with grand or subtle aha's. But each client "gets" what is perfect for them in the moment. There are no expectations of what must happen. There is nothing a client or coach can make happen. What wants to happen, from moment to moment, happens. It is always perfect.

Mary Barrett - Life Coach in Equine Facilitated Learning and Coaching Equine Reiki Master B.A. Art and Human Development, Lesley University Facilitator in Creative and Expressive Arts, Authentic Movement and Somatic Education
As a child I played at being a horse, jumping over picnic table benches and galloping across my backyard. Then the day arrived when a real horse came into our family. I could play with her - sliding down her backside into a deep snowdrift, chasing her through the neighbor's garden to bring her home, riding bareback and galloping up our long driveway. Spending time with our pretty mare, doing nothing in particular and having no agenda was timeless. I felt safe. She and I were fully alive in the natural world I thrived in. Heaven! My life led me away from horses for many years. I had children and became a Homeschool Educator. I kept my connection to the natural world by spending many hours in it. I was drawn to study and receive training in methods of somatic awareness and integration, the creative and expressive arts and I worked with children, adolescent girls and women for many years. In mid life my longing for the company of horses returned. My path went in an unexpected direction and I was faced with several painful transitions. This path brought me to Equine Learning and a horse named Zorro offered me his unconditional acceptance and wisdom. This was a transformational experience and a turning point directing me forward with a great sense of what life had to offer. I started to feel ready for the next best thing! Now, certified in Equine Facilitated Learning and Coaching, I work on Cape Cod in Massachusetts and I am honored to coach and witness the process of every client. Each session is always perfect. I trust my client's inner knowing and the wisdom of the horse.
